2019: Another busy year for Oak Tree Farm Wedding Venue and Marquee Hire

We have had a fantastic year with both the marquee hire and Oak Tree Farm Wedding venue.

It started with the completion of our luxury on-site toilets, which will cater for up to 200 guests.  These were  ready just in time for a wonderful golden wedding celebration in April: 100 guests seated with superb afternoon tea and champagne supplied by King’s Caterers from the Pavilions in Harrogate.

Family Wedding

Preparations then began for our daughter’s wedding here in May. Seven trapeze marquees coped admirably for our 150 seated guests and 200 at night. We used lime-washed banqueting chairs at 6ft round tables with white linen cloths and napkins with flowers by Angie Walker of Tockwith.  The groom made an amazing large round bar in oak which we have converted into four separate bars all available to hire.

Once again Kings Caterers supplied the food and there was an extra special wedding cake from Betty’s Wedding cake from Betty'sand an amazing day was had by all with fire pits lit and dancing into the early hours.

We continued a very busy summer providing marquees for all sorts of different events and occasions: we continue to be the choice for the Archbishop of York at Bishopthorpe Palace for all their Youth Trust events, as well as Beverley Races and Pocklington School. These venues continue to use us year after year and which we very much appreciate their loyalty.

Oak Tree Farm Wedding Venue

Weddings continued here at home right through the summer. On a red hot day in July we were the venue for the reception after  a wedding at  York Minster.  Food for Thought from Escrick provided guests with canapes whilst they relaxed on the  rattan sofas outside the marquee before sitting down to roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, dessert and cheese inside the marquee

The rest of the year saw more wedding parties enjoying our amazing facilities:  campers, caravanners, formal and informal catering, pizza vans, crepe vans and more.

Bookings for 2020

Bookings for 2020 are flowing in for both our Oak Tree Farm wedding venue here on the farm and for marquee hire around the region.

The trapeze marquee  creates a different style and ambience, due to the arches and shape of the pods. The modular style allows us to accommodate as many guests as required: they fit together to give space to 40 guests plus, and we add on catering pods and entrance pods for reception areas as required. The sky is the limit with this style marquee.

We continue to use all local providers such as the Convenience Company, Classic Chambers, Event Furniture as well as the companies already mentioned, ensuring we provide a first class service. We are always able to recommend local suppliers with whom we have built up a good relationship over the years.

The past 11 years has seen this business grow from just providing for small parties in the garden to large corporate functions and weddings both here and away.  We continue to have a great team of staff who  provide the best service at all times. We have many repeat customers who come to us year after year for 18th’s, 21st’s, weddings and then christenings and we are honoured to be part of their story. Thank you  all for your continued support.

2020 seems a popular year for weddings and preparation is well under way. All the marquees/carpet etc will be cleaned over winter ready for the spring.  Our first marquee will be hired out to the Archbishop of York in April and our first wedding at Oak Tree Farm is in May.

In the new year our son will be home from university –  perhaps to join the family business, our children all help us when they can be it marquees, farming or in the hat shop, Get Ahead Hats, there is always a job here!
